Shaman(and general) Guide To Kara Sunday, May 25, 2008
11:03 PM

Well, I've got 8 hours to kill tonight, so im gonna make some class guides for kara for the forum, starting with my beloved Shaman :)

Remember nothing in here is set in stone and raid leaders make the final call on strats, but this will give you a good idea of things to plan for.

Pre-Raid:
Besides meeting all Pre Kara conditions for your job(Found under prereq's on Kara wiki page), the following will make things run much smoother

Elemental- Grab 2 stacks of water, at least 10 Super Mana Pots, Full Repair, and at least 3 ankhs, (spell power consumables/elixers useful as well)
Enhancement- *edit in later*
Resto-*Edit in later*

First Area Trash Pulls:
The only real trick here is tremor totem to negate the fears, otherwise just listen to the Raid Leader and burn down targets as marked

Attumen the Huntsmen:
Start DPS on Midnight when RL calls DPS On. At 95% she summons Attumen, at 20% Midnight and Attumen merge, At this point DPS is paused while MT gets a strong aggro grip. Now just stand behind in melee range(To avoid charge) and spank till dead. (1 badge)

The Ballroom Trash:
Packs of lvl 70 reg mobs, usually come 5-7 at a time. Just drop a Magama totem and CL spam. An earthgrip totem can be used to slow mobs pulled by AoEers, but is optional.

Morose:
Two things we need to remember here. 1. Poison Cleansing Totem will remove the Blind Effect (Not sure why) and if you get garroted, your going to die, reincarnate, heal up, and continue.
He has 4 of the 6 adds, randomly chosen (each represents either a Holy/Shadow Priest, Holy/Ret Pally, or Arms/Prot Warrior) Really here we just have to DPS the healer mob/s then focus DPS on Morose, when he is dead you can run down the stairs and mobs fade, return and lewt. (2 Badges)

Servants Quarters:
The rep farm room. After a set number of trash mobs are cleared a random animal boss will spawn.
Spider Boss: Cleanse Poison, Spank, Lewt.
Dog Boss: Tank and Spank
Bat Boss: Wing Buffet is back(BWL Flashback Anyone?) so watch aggro, follow tanks, and listen to RL for instructions, nothing really Shaman specific here just do your job and its all good.(0 Badges from any boss, all lewt is random enchant)

Maiden of Virtue:
The only thing we can do here specific is that our Grounding totem can eliminate the threat of holy fire entirely if we are grouped with ranged dps/heals and positioned so that all are within range of the totem. Removing Holy Fire makes this fight a simple Tank and Spank (though a huge ammount of healing is required because of AoE's and Repentance)
Note on repentance for Elementals/Casters: When you get the effect, run into melee range and take a little (around 400) damage from the holy ground AoE, that will remove the silence. (2 Badges)

(From here on out its all based on strats and videos)

The Opera Event:
Another random boss spawn event. You will face either the Big Bad Wolf, The cast of Wizard of Oz, or Romeo and Juliet clones. As for setup, listen to raid leader and if your not the one beginning the event (shaman shouldent be but w/e) you should all be set up in the pit. Pretty much just follow everyone else.
Big Bad Wolf Tactics: First, remember wolf is immune to all movement impairing effects, frost shock and earthbind are useless here. You can use a tremor totem to decrease the power of the fear (its a 3 sec fear with no aggro drop and range dependant, so its pretty optional) Pretty much a Tank and Spank, if you get turned into little red riding hood, pick a direction and run, dont backpeddle, turn, etc. Run. (Your armor and resists will be 0, you wont survive an engagement.)
Wizard of Oz:Heres a fight where we can have some real power. First, Dorthe's Water bolt is un-interruptable, so save mana and dont waiste ES. Pretty much what you wanna do is burn down Dorthe ASAP, then Toto. Every now and then throw a flame shock on Strawman(Unless RL has other plan, Puts a disorient debuff on him, Mage may do it as well) Roar has a fear that you can break with Tremor (he may not fear anymore). Pretty much just burn down Roar/Strawman while someone kites Tinman, then down Tinman and prepare for Crone. Simple fight, avoid cyclones and Grounding totem for her Chain lighting, Spank and lewt.
Rome and Juliet: Phase 1: Fighting Julianne. ES during her Eternal Affection Self Heal, Also, Purge her Devotion buff ASAP! Do these two things and its a simple Caster Boss. Phase 2. Fighting Romulo. Purge asap, then burn down, if in melee range avoid standing directly behind him. Phase 3. Fighting Both. Shaman will most likely be placed in the group to fight julianne (for spell interpt). Keep purging, ESing, and dpsing till shes dead, if you can keep an eye on Romulo and make sure his buff is purged as well then excellent. (2 badges)

The Curator: The Gear Check Fight. Its a strait up DPS fight for us (or healing if thats your spec). You need to have mana pots and use them at EVERY cool down. Burn him down, kill adds when they spawn. Ranged DPS need to be able to kill Flares in less than 8 seconds so that melee does not have to break from Curator.
Here is a macro for DPS to switch targets easy.
/cleartarget
/target Astral Flare
/stopmacro [nodead, harm]
/target The Curator

Shade of Aran:
Earth Shock every chance you get to stop his casting. You will also want to keep grounding totems down to catch what spells you can. at 40% health hes going to summon 4 elete water elementals which despawn after 90 seconds, but fire non stop water bolts (cant be interupted). at 20% Mana he polymorphs the entire raid, drinks, then does a pyroblast that damage everyone for 7-8k damage. Everyone should 1. have more than 7500 Hp for this fight and read the strat on Shade to understand movement. http://www.wowwiki.com/... (pay special attention to the "Safe Zone" description).

Terestian Illhoof:
Theres nothing really shaman specific here, Read the strat on WoW Wiki (http://www.wowwiki.com/...) and follow RL calls and your fine. Remember the chains are DPS priority numero uno! Heres a macro for easy DPS on this fight:
/cleartarget
/target Demon Chains
/stopmacro [nodead, harm]
/target Kil'rek
/stopmacro [nodead, harm]
/target Terestian Illhoof
This macro will keep you on the right target at all times.

Netherspite:
A great fight because it is in no way a gear check. The only way to win is to understand the fight and the Beams. If you dont read any WoW Wiki strat pages, at least read the beam effects for this battle, its the only way to win the fight. (and would be nice to not have to wait 20 min to make sure everyone understands before the pull) http://www.wowwiki.com/...

The Chess Event:
You play chess. Kinda. You wont be a "Shaman" for the purpose of the event, but will have the powers of the piece you select. Full run down on pieces and start can be found here: http://www.wowwiki.com/...
This is by far the easiest BoJ you will ever aquire.

Prince Malchezaar
This is a very complex fight, but nothing really shaman specific for this one either. This fight is also a gear check for most classes. http://www.wowwiki.com/... Just read the strat there and you should be fine.

Nightbane:
Before doing this boss, someone must have complete the Medivahs Journal quest line... requiring heoric Seth and Shatt Halls runs. He has a fear every 45-60 seconds that we can stump with Tremor Totem. Another complex fight that requires knowledge of the entire strat for sucess. Link: http://www.wowwiki.com/...

Hopefully this will help some of you guys that arent familiar with the instance, its a lot of fun, and theres some great stuff in there for us.
